How does the Punch Tap get into your machine?

 

Emuge offers you the possibility of test machining your components with Punch Tap in our test workshop. The machined components will be available to your qualitiy assurance department for inspection.

Define your CNC-machine. (CNC-center with synchronized axes)

Contact your machine manufacturer if a Punch Tap-Cycle is available for your machine.

The machine manufacturer integrates the Punch Tap cycle into your machine control unit and adjusts machine parameters if necessary.

Test production on your machine.

Components made from non-ferrous materials such as aluminium cast alloys and aluminium wrough alloys or similar workpiece material.
Thread sizes M3 to M10
Depth of threads 3xD is standard depth, up to 5xD possible

The preconditions of machine and component determine which type of the three available machining machining cycles can be used.

Punch Tap Tool

Punch Tap helical cold-forming taps are produced from a special high-speed steel (HSSE-PM).

A helical cold-forming tap has an internal coolant supply and can be used with internal cooling or minimal quantity lubrication (MQL).

Punch Tap Tool Holder PT-Synchro

A special tool holder with collet, lateral clamping screw and integrated shank square provide connection to the machine.

Features on the PT-Synchro:

The force-locked rigid clamping via a cylindrical ER collet enables a high torque, an increased clamping force as well as an excellent run-out accuracy
Square integrated in holder (narrowed tolerances)
Clamping screw positioned radially on inclined clamping flat serves as pull-out protection
Axial adjustment screw, configurable for emulsion / oil / minimum quantity lubrication (MQL)

Gauging

The helical thread is gauged according to DIN ISO 1502.

Example:
The pitch diameter is gauged with a thread plug gauge Go/No-Go tolerance 6H and the minor diameter with a smooth plug gauge Go/No-Go 7H.

The tolerances are identical to cold-forming.
